For softball players and their families, on and off the field.

MY Story

Built by softball people who’ve lived the recruiting grind.

Built by a softball dad who needed guidance and couldn’t find the right resource.  Uncommon Journey Recruiting started when my daughter told me she wanted to play Division I softball and we quickly realized there was no clear roadmap (just late nights, mixed messages, and a lot of guessing at what college coaches actually wanted).

As I walked through her journey, I dug in: researching nonstop, coaching at the high school and high club levels focused on recruiting at the national level, and asking college coaches direct questions about how they evaluate players, families, and communication. Over time, that work turned into a real plan. My daughter earned the chance to play Division I softball, and other families began reaching out for honest guidance, structure, and a voice they could trust. What began as helping a few local players has grown into a high-touch, relationship-driven service where I walk alongside softball players and their families, giving them clarity, confidence, and a step-by-step path through the recruiting process.

How I Help

A clear recruiting plan for your softball family.

From the first honest conversation about college dreams to signing day, I turn a confusing process into an organized, step-by-step journey your whole family can follow with confidence.

1. Understand your athlete

I start with where you are right now (grad year, level of play, academics, budget) and what kind of college experience your daughter truly wants. From there, we develop clear goals and make sure her daily actions, and timeline actually line up.

2. Build a month-by-month recruiting plan

Together, we build a structured, month-by-month plan: schools to target, emails to send, videos to update, camps to prioritize, and visits to schedule. You’re never left guessing what to do next or wondering if you’re doing enough.

3. Coach your family through every phase

From the early Spark Phase to the final Selection Phase, I walk with you through communication, evaluations, and tough decisions. I help you weigh interest and offers so the choice you make fits your daughter’s goals and your family’s values and resources.

A recruiting partner designed for busy softball parents.

You’re managing tournaments, school, jobs, other family members, and everything in between as recruiting shouldn’t become a second full-time job. I step in as the organized voice in the middle of the chaos so your player can focus on training and you can focus on being mom or dad, not the recruiting coordinator.

  • Clear weekly priorities so you know exactly what to focus on.

  • Templates for emails, calls, and updates to college coaches.

  • Honest, unbiased advice when multiple programs show interest.

  • Support when your athlete feels pressure or doubt.

  • Regular check-ins so no one slips through the cracks.

What’s included in your free consultation

  • Initial conversation to understand your athlete and current situation.

  • A custom snapshot of where you are in the recruiting timeline.

  • A chance to ask all the questions you haven’t had clear answers to.

If it’s a fit, we’ll talk about ongoing options. If not, you’ll still walk away with more clarity and a realistic plan.

These are real comments from real softball families and parents who have trusted Uncommon Journey to walk beside their daughter through the recruiting process.

”Luke’s process taught our daughter how to set goals, manage her schedule, and prepare mentally and physically. She’s grown beyond softball and confidently talks with college coaches. We highly recommend Luke to any girl wanting to play at the next level.”

Jeana Swanson, Parent

“We started this journey overwhelmed and unsure where to begin. Luke streamlined everything and made the process personal. Our daughter now owns her grades, training, nutrition, and has opened doors with colleges we didn’t even know existed before.”

Tannya Hurley, Current Parent

“We hired Luke for recruiting help and ended up gaining a life mentor for our daughter. Even if she never played again, I’d be grateful for the habits, confidence, and life skills he’s helped her build.”

Jennifer Palmer, Current Parent

On-Field Coaching & Player Development

I no longer coach teams on the field, but years of high school and club coaching experience now fuel how I guide players and families through the college softball recruiting process.

Questions, answered

FAQ about Uncommon Journey Recruiting Services.

If you do not see your question here, we can walk through details and edge cases on a no-obligation strategy call.

Who is Uncommon Journey best for?

I’m a great fit for driven softball families with athletes typically in 8th-11th grade who want to play in college but aren’t sure how to get from “good softball player” to “recruited college athlete” or aren’t seeing results with their current approach. I work with all levels (D1, D2, D3, NAIA, and JUCO) and focus on matching your athlete’s goals, academics, and financial picture to the right level and schools.

Will you work against our current club or high school coach?

I see myself as part of your athlete’s support team. I complement the on-field development your coaches are leading by helping with strategy, communication, and decision-making in the recruiting process, and I aim to collaborate with them whenever possible. There are times, however, when we’ll talk honestly about whether a different club environment is needed to provide the appropriate coaching and/or exposure required to play at the next level.

Can you guarantee a scholarship or signing with a college?

No ethical recruiting service can guarantee a specific offer, scholarship, or signing. What I can promise is a clear plan, honest feedback, and a proven process that gives your daughter the best possible opportunity to find the right fit and to be fully prepared when that opportunity comes.

How much time will this take for our family each week?

Most families spend about 3-4 hours per week on recruiting-related tasks when working with me. I focus on what actually moves the needle so you’re not stuck in busywork; you’ll always know the next few most important steps, and I’ll help you fit them around school, training, and tournaments.
